Event Photography

Your event captured professionally

Event photography is fast-paced and requires the ability to read situations. I photograph seminars, galas, trade fairs, corporate events, and celebrations professionally and unobtrusively.

How event photography works

Successful event photography starts well before the day itself. The better I know your event, the better the images I capture.

Initial conversation — We go through the event programme, schedule and your wishes for the images. I identify the key moments, important people and situations that must be captured. At the same time, I estimate the time needed for coverage.

Venue visit — When needed, I visit the venue beforehand to assess lighting conditions, the best angles and any potential challenges. This ensures no time is wasted on surprises on the day.

The shoot — On the event day, I arrive well in advance and photograph throughout the entire event. I move unobtrusively among guests, capturing both planned moments and spontaneous situations. When agreed, I also direct group shots or individual portraits.

Fast delivery — With event photos, timing matters. I deliver edited images typically within one week. In urgent cases — for social media posts or press releases, for example — a selection of images can be ready the same evening or the next day.

What types of events do I photograph?

Every event is different, and I adapt my approach to match its character.

Seminars and conferences — Speakers, panel discussions, audience reactions and networking moments. Seminar images highlight expertise and the value of the content. I capture both on-stage presentations and conversations during breaks.

Corporate events and client functions — Product launches, open days, anniversaries and stakeholder events. The images capture the event atmosphere and your company's investment in hospitality.

Trade shows and exhibitions — Exhibition stands, product demonstrations and client interactions. Trade show photos are especially valuable because they document your exhibition investment and serve as marketing material for future events.

Galas and celebrations — Award ceremonies, speeches, performers and festive atmosphere. In gala photography, I pay particular attention to lighting and composition to ensure the celebratory mood comes through in every image.

Training sessions and workshops — Interaction, group work and learning moments. Training images are excellent for marketing your services and for follow-up communications with participants.

Building and venue openings — The opening moment, first guests and the new space on display. Opening event photos document a significant milestone in your company's history.

What does event photography include?

Event photography produces a comprehensive collection covering the event from start to finish. A typical set includes:

Atmosphere shots — The venue, décor, catering and details before guests arrive. These images showcase your investment in the event's visual appearance.

Candid moments — Natural moments during the event — conversations, reactions, laughter and encounters. These are often the most valuable images from an event, because they convey the genuine atmosphere.

Programme coverage — Speeches, presentations, panel discussions and performers documented professionally.

Group and individual portraits — When agreed, I direct group photos or portraits during the event. These are particularly suited to staff events and celebrations.

Details — Name badges, programmes, floral arrangements, table settings and brand elements. Detail shots complete the collection and highlight the finishing touches of your event.

Why leave event photography to a professional?

Event photography is the most demanding genre of photography. Moments don't repeat, lighting changes constantly and you need to be one step ahead at all times.

Events photographed on a phone or hobbyist camera often end in disappointment — dim images under hall lighting, motion blur and missed key moments. Professional equipment and experience ensure that every important moment is captured sharp and properly exposed.

Most importantly, when a professional handles the photography, event organisers and staff can focus on guests and the programme. No one has to photograph a speech on their phone instead of listening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you use a drone in your shoots?

Yes, when it adds value to the shoot and conditions and permits allow. Aerial images are particularly suited to industrial photography, construction sites, property presentations and events. I hold EASA and Traficom approved drone pilot certificates (A1/A3 and A2) and handle all permit matters on your behalf.

Can photography and video be combined on the same day?

Yes, and I often recommend it. In hybrid shooting, both photos and video are captured on the same day, keeping the visual style consistent while saving you time and costs. This works particularly well for reference, brand and industrial photography.

What file formats do you deliver?

I deliver images in JPEG format, both optimised for web use (sRGB) and as high-resolution files suitable for print (AdobeRGB). Videos are delivered in MP4 format in Full HD or 4K resolution depending on the intended use.

How many photos will I receive?

The number of images depends on the type and scope of the shoot. A personal brand shoot typically produces 5–15 images, staff photography 1–3 images per person, and larger brand or corporate shoots from dozens to hundreds of images. We agree on the specifics during our initial conversation.

How should we prepare for the shoot?

I always provide clear preparation guidelines before the shoot day. For portrait and brand photography, you receive tips on clothing and space preparation. For industrial photography, I review safety requirements in advance. You don't need to worry about the details — I guide the entire process.

Will the photography disrupt work or the event?

No. I always work as unobtrusively as possible. For corporate photography, I plan the schedule so the shoot doesn't disrupt normal operations. At events, I move through the audience unobtrusively. In industrial environments, I photograph on production's terms.

How do I book a shoot?

Get in touch by email, WhatsApp or the contact form. Briefly describe what kind of photography you need and when, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. The initial consultation and quote are always free of charge.

Is post-production included in the price?

Yes. All my photography services include professional post-production — colour correction, light and shadow adjustments and image finishing. In product photography and brand photography, post-production may be more extensive, such as background replacement or advanced retouching, and this is reflected in the pricing.

How quickly are the photos ready?

Edited images are typically delivered within one week of the shoot. For event photography, a selection of images can be delivered for social media use the same evening. In urgent cases, such as an approaching tender or publication deadline, expedited delivery is possible.

How does pricing work?

Pricing depends on the type of shoot, its scope and the amount of post-production. For example, an individual portrait session at the studio is priced as a package, while larger brand photography and industrial photography projects are priced on a project basis. Request a quote — tell me what you need and I'll put together a clear proposal.

Do you shoot outside Oulu?

Yes. You can book me for shoots anywhere in Finland. For shoots outside Oulu, travel and accommodation costs are added to the price. For product photography, products can also be sent to the studio by post.

What if the weather is bad on the shoot day?

For drone photography and outdoor shoots, we always agree on a backup date in advance. Safety and image quality are never compromised because of weather. Studio sessions and indoor shoots are naturally unaffected by the weather.

Do you shoot at the company's premises or in the studio?

Both options work. Brand, staff and corporate photography are often carried out at the company's own premises, bringing the authentic working environment into the images. Individual portrait sessions and product photography are typically done at my studio in Maikkula, Oulu. We can also combine studio and location photography on the same day.

Do we get full usage rights?

Yes. You receive broad usage rights for your company's marketing and communications use in accordance with the agreed terms.
