How a product shoot works
Product photography is precision work where every detail affects the result. The process is straightforward but carefully planned.
Consultation — I find out what products need to be shot, for what purpose and on what timeline. We agree on whether to shoot in the studio or on location, and whether lifestyle images are needed alongside standard product shots. This conversation is free of charge.
Preparation — Products are delivered to the studio, or we arrange a shoot day on-site. When needed, I provide guidance on preparing the products — cleaning, labelling or packaging. Preparation work before the shoot day saves time and money.
The shoot — In the studio, I have complete control over lighting, background and composition. Every product is photographed with care, and I review images during the shoot to avoid the need for reshoots. For lifestyle photography, I build settings that showcase the product naturally.
Post-production — In product photography, post-production plays a significant role. I remove distractions, correct colours, refine details and, when needed, replace backgrounds or add shadows. The end result is an image that does justice to the product.
Delivery — You receive images in the agreed formats and sizes — lightweight files optimised for web and high-resolution images suitable for print. Files are clearly named so they are easy to put to use.

Frequently asked questions about product photography
What does product photography cost?
The price comes from how many products are photographed, how many shots each product needs, and how much editing the images take. Tell me how many products there are and where the images will be used, and you get a quote. The first conversation and the quote cost nothing.
- Number of products: How many products go in front of the camera and how many shots each one needs for your online store.
- Amount of editing: Basic post-processing is included in the price; background replacement and heavier retouching affect it.
- Where the shoot happens: At the studio in Oulu or at your own premises; outside Oulu, travel and accommodation costs are added.
Can products be sent to the studio by post?
You can post the products to the studio in Maikkula, Oulu. Product shoots usually happen at the studio, but if the products are awkward to move, I bring portable studio lights and backdrops to your premises. Studio shots and shots in a real setting can also be combined in one session.
What editing is included in the product images?
Post-processing is included in the price: colour correction, adjusting highlights and shadows, and finishing. More demanding work such as background replacement or heavier retouching affects the price. Tell me up front where the images will be used, and we will agree the scope before the shoot day.

When are the product images ready for the online store?
The product images arrive as a download link, usually less than a week after the shoot. You get JPEGs both optimised for web use (sRGB) and in high resolution (AdobeRGB), so the same files work in the online store and in print. If you are in a hurry, we can agree on faster delivery.
How can the finished product images be used?
The licence covers your own marketing and communications: website, social media, brochures, trade fairs and recruitment. It runs indefinitely and worldwide, and it is not exclusive. Under Finnish copyright law the copyright stays with me, and you get the right to use the images.
- Resellers and partners: The licence is not transferable to a third party. Reselling or transferring the rights needs a separate agreement.
- Paid print advertising: Paid print advertising is agreed separately.
- Editorial use: In editorial use the image carries the credit Kuva: Petteri Löppönen.
- Portfolio use: I may show the images in my own portfolio.
Can product video be shot in the same session?
Stills and video can be shot on the same day. The look stays consistent and the day gets shorter, because the products are set up only once. Say in your request what the video is for; the video schedule is agreed in the quote.
