Product images that sell

Quality product images are the foundation of e-commerce and marketing. I photograph products in studio or on location, and edit images to showcase products at their best.

Types of product photography

Product photography is not one-size-fits-all. Different use cases require different images, and I plan each shoot based on where and how the photos will be used.

White background product shots — The classic e-commerce image where the product is presented on a clean background with no distractions. This is the fundamental tool for online stores, making product listings look professional and easy to browse.

Lifestyle and styled shots — The product photographed in its intended environment or in a styled setting. Lifestyle images evoke emotion and help the customer see how the product fits into their life. These photos work particularly well on social media and in marketing materials.

Detail shots — Close-ups of materials, textures, seams and surfaces. Detail images replace the physical touch and help customers assess product quality online.

Group shots and collections — Multiple products photographed together as a set. Group shots work well on catalogue pages, in brochures and when showcasing the breadth of a product range.

Packaging and label shots — The product in its packaging or packaging details clearly displayed. Especially important for food, cosmetics and beverage products.

360° and multi-angle photography — The product captured from multiple angles so the customer gets a comprehensive view. Particularly useful in online stores where the customer wants to examine the product from every side.

How a product shoot works

Product photography is precision work where every detail affects the result. The process is straightforward but carefully planned.

Consultation — I find out what products need to be shot, for what purpose and on what timeline. We agree on whether to shoot in the studio or on location, and whether lifestyle images are needed alongside standard product shots. This conversation is free of charge.

Preparation — Products are delivered to the studio, or we arrange a shoot day on-site. When needed, I provide guidance on preparing the products — cleaning, labelling or packaging. Preparation work before the shoot day saves time and money.

The shoot — In the studio, I have complete control over lighting, background and composition. Every product is photographed with care, and I review images during the shoot to avoid the need for reshoots. For lifestyle photography, I build settings that showcase the product naturally.

Post-production — In product photography, post-production plays a significant role. I remove distractions, correct colours, refine details and, when needed, replace backgrounds or add shadows. The end result is an image that does justice to the product.

Delivery — You receive images in the agreed formats and sizes — lightweight files optimised for web and high-resolution images suitable for print. Files are clearly named so they are easy to put to use.

Product photos for different channels

A single product shoot produces material that serves multiple channels. I plan the session so you get images suited to every purpose in one shoot day.

E-commerce — Clean, consistent product images that meet your platform's technical requirements. A unified visual style makes your product range look professional and easy to browse.

Social media — Lifestyle images and styled compositions that stop the scroll. I shoot material ready for different social media formats — square for feeds, vertical for Stories and Reels.

Print marketing — Brochures, catalogues and advertisements require high-resolution images that hold up at large sizes. I deliver print images in the correct colour profile.

Resellers and wholesale — Professional product images that a reseller can use directly. This makes it easier to sell your products through other channels too.

Amazon, Etsy and marketplaces — Each platform has its own requirements for product images. I know the image guidelines of the most common marketplaces and deliver photos that meet them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you use a drone in your shoots?

Yes, when it adds value to the shoot and conditions and permits allow. Aerial images are particularly suited to industrial photography, construction sites, property presentations and events. I hold EASA and Traficom approved drone pilot certificates (A1/A3 and A2) and handle all permit matters on your behalf.

Can photography and video be combined on the same day?

Yes, and I often recommend it. In hybrid shooting, both photos and video are captured on the same day, keeping the visual style consistent while saving you time and costs. This works particularly well for reference, brand and industrial photography.

What file formats do you deliver?

I deliver images in JPEG format, both optimised for web use (sRGB) and as high-resolution files suitable for print (AdobeRGB). Videos are delivered in MP4 format in Full HD or 4K resolution depending on the intended use.

How many photos will I receive?

The number of images depends on the type and scope of the shoot. A personal brand shoot typically produces 5–15 images, staff photography 1–3 images per person, and larger brand or corporate shoots from dozens to hundreds of images. We agree on the specifics during our initial conversation.

How should we prepare for the shoot?

I always provide clear preparation guidelines before the shoot day. For portrait and brand photography, you receive tips on clothing and space preparation. For industrial photography, I review safety requirements in advance. You don't need to worry about the details — I guide the entire process.

Will the photography disrupt work or the event?

No. I always work as unobtrusively as possible. For corporate photography, I plan the schedule so the shoot doesn't disrupt normal operations. At events, I move through the audience unobtrusively. In industrial environments, I photograph on production's terms.

How do I book a shoot?

Get in touch by email, WhatsApp or the contact form. Briefly describe what kind of photography you need and when, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. The initial consultation and quote are always free of charge.

Is post-production included in the price?

Yes. All my photography services include professional post-production — colour correction, light and shadow adjustments and image finishing. In product photography and brand photography, post-production may be more extensive, such as background replacement or advanced retouching, and this is reflected in the pricing.

How quickly are the photos ready?

Edited images are typically delivered within one week of the shoot. For event photography, a selection of images can be delivered for social media use the same evening. In urgent cases, such as an approaching tender or publication deadline, expedited delivery is possible.

How does pricing work?

Pricing depends on the type of shoot, its scope and the amount of post-production. For example, an individual portrait session at the studio is priced as a package, while larger brand photography and industrial photography projects are priced on a project basis. Request a quote — tell me what you need and I'll put together a clear proposal.

Do you shoot outside Oulu?

Yes. You can book me for shoots anywhere in Finland. For shoots outside Oulu, travel and accommodation costs are added to the price. For product photography, products can also be sent to the studio by post.

What if the weather is bad on the shoot day?

For drone photography and outdoor shoots, we always agree on a backup date in advance. Safety and image quality are never compromised because of weather. Studio sessions and indoor shoots are naturally unaffected by the weather.

Do you shoot at the company's premises or in the studio?

Both options work. Brand, staff and corporate photography are often carried out at the company's own premises, bringing the authentic working environment into the images. Individual portrait sessions and product photography are typically done at my studio in Maikkula, Oulu. We can also combine studio and location photography on the same day.

Do we get full usage rights?

Yes. You receive broad usage rights for your company's marketing and communications use in accordance with the agreed terms.
