Soft natural light for a portrait
About three weeks ago I photographed a portrait for Mehiläinen's blog for an article. I chose Robert's Coffee in downtown Oulu as the shooting location because of the light flooding in through the skylights. Often in this type of portrait photography, many photos are taken in different locations, even though only one image will be used in the final application.
It's worth taking many photos

By shooting extensively and taking time, you ensure that the subject gets used to the camera and relaxes, try different camera angles and visual ideas, and take backup shots with different framings and both vertical and horizontal versions for safety. The image/images may sometimes be needed later, for example in print materials, where the magazine layout designer benefits from having variations for page layout planning.
